Our careers programme

Our careers programme

Wellsway is committed to providing a rewarding careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) that raises aspiration, encourages achievement and provides additional school resources to develop independent, life ready young adults. We aim to support every student to actively explore and develop their awareness and understanding of their potential career and educational pathway.

Our Careers Programme is a progressive journey from Year 7-13, and students will experience opportunities such as:  

  • A structured careers programme
  • Careers interviews with an independent careers advisor 
  • Supported access to specialised career websites  
  • Regular employer visits to school  
  • Offsite trips to local businesses, colleges, universities  
  • Career focussed assemblies and PSHE sessions 
  • Up to date information through the Careers Hub, notice boards and the Ammonite 
  • A Challenge Futures programme to support students with applications to the most competitive courses and universities.

Work experience

Work experience

Year 10 Work Experience 15th - 19th July  2024

Once your child has found their work experience placement please complete the information form. Once submitted I will contact the business and start the process.

When completed and the approval through risk assessment, where required, have been agreed.

  • Parental consent or parental waiver forms will be issued
  • Employer to receive confirmation of student details including contact and any medical information, dates of work experience and employer information pack
  • Student and parents to receive confirmation of placement, contact details, job description, start and finish times, dress expectations
  • Placement all set up in readiness for July.

Work experience placements are now open.

Placements available across 21 different departments, covering 10 areas of interest:

The programme will run over a two week period, each placement will be held Monday to Friday, week commencing 8th or 15th July 2024. The closing date for applications is Sunday 31st March 2024.

Our careers HUB and team

We have a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced careers team who can offer students bespoke advice through our Careers Hub. Students can book an appointment via email (or their tutor, or drop in) to get careers information and advice.

Mrs A Millard – Careers Education and Guidance Coordinator (Careers Leader) – has spent her career within education working with employers, students, colleges, universities and training providers. She is based at Wellsway School and organises/coordinates school careers events, 1-1 careers meetings, employer interventions and work experience.

Ms M Millard – Independent Careers Advisor for Futura Learning Partnership is our experienced and qualified careers adviser offering impartial careers information, advice and guidance to students across secondary schools within the Futura Learning Partnership. She is able to support students to explore and decide on options for future study (including sixth form, college and university), apprenticeship opportunities and future career paths.
