Sixth form area
Welcome to Wellsway School, a sixth form that sets high standards in both academic achievement and student welfare. We are proud of the inclusive and supportive culture in which our students thrive and that more students than ever choose to stay, and indeed join, Wellsway Sixth Form.
Our aim is to help students to acquire the skills, qualifications and experiences that will enable them to progress to the next stage in their life journey, whether that is employment, an apprenticeship, continuing their studies at university or taking a gap year to explore the wider world. To enable this, we have high expectations of both ourselves and students, and a long record of success in helping students to fulfil their ambitions, whatever they may be.
As a growing sixth form we are large enough to offer a broad range of courses and extra-curricular activities, yet we are small enough to be personal and individually supportive. Sixth form gives students the opportunity to make new friendships and strengthen old ones. It is important for us to have fun along the way and to provide wider experiences, beyond a student’s chose subjects, to ensure they leave as well rounded individuals. We pride ourselves on our enrichment offer, including educational trips and visits, and the wider personal growth gained through tutor time and development sessions.
Key to success are the structures and support we put in place. Students are part of a supportive tutor group throughout their two years, and along with our caring and experienced tutors and wider sixth form team, they are challenged, encouraged and nurtured to be the best they can while helping to maintain a sense of perspective, plan for their future and achieve to their fullest potential.
Alongside the staff team, Wellsway Sixth Form has an incredibly strong and supportive student body. Led by Head Students, the student body have a genuine say in how the sixth form is run, from designing the common room to bringing the individual sixth form centres across the Futura Learning Partnership together through student led icebreakers.
Sixth form students benefit from their own exclusive areas of the school. This includes the study room, an area with access to computers and individual study desks, alongside the common room with Shades café, and a vending machine, which allows students the opportunity to relax outside of lessons or study in a group setting.
With a rich, varied and ever increasing curriculum, excellent extra-curricular opportunities and a spacious site that offers great facilities, we believe Wellsway Sixth Form is the ideal place for students to excel as they continue their education and development as part of Futura Sixth.
Director of Post-16 (Assistant Principal): Mr A Littleboy

Students are further supported by a dedicated and experienced pastoral and tutor team, who know students as individuals, give advice and guidance, and in all, prepare them for their next step.
Wellsway Sixth Form is proud to work as a collaboration of sixth form centres; Futura Sixth. Importantly, as students progress to Post-16 study, they can choose the school they would like to become their home centre; the home centres are Wellsway School, SBL Academy and IKB Academy.
